Size

This is one of the lightest bags for its warmth rating on the market: at just 572 grams, the -3°C version is unbeatable. We’ve used technical know-how and quality materials to keep it warm and practical as well as super light: 3D, vertical V-baffles filled with 800-850 loft Hydrophobic Down; a full zip allows venting while the box foot prevents cold spots; and there’s a draft tube, three-quarter hood and internal chest drawcord.

The Nitrous is also versatile. It’s available in three warmth ratings and three sizes. Other features include super light, downproof by construction and breathable 10 denier Vapour Vent fabric and a zip protector on the YKK zip.

Temp Ratings

One Planet sleeping bags are rated using the international standard for sleeping bag performance, ISO 23537-1. (This is a revised version of European Standard EN 13537.) This means every sleeping bag has two ‘real world’ and one extreme rating. To determine what temperature might be most suitable for you see our technical pages.

  • ‘Comfort’ rating is based on a ‘standard’ woman having a comfortable night’s sleep.
  • ‘Limit of comfort’ is based on the lowest temperature at which a ‘standard’ man is deemed to be able to have a comfortable night’s sleep. This is the figure we use in our product descriptions.
  • ‘Extreme’ rating is a survival rating for a ‘standard’ woman. According to ISO 23537-1, ‘a strong sensation of cold has to be expected and there is a risk of health damage due to hypothermia’. This is a survival rating only, and consumers should not rely on this rating for general use. The best guidelines are the comfort and limit of comfort ratings.

Ethically sourced down
Our down is ethically sourced, harvested and cleaned before purchase, with both the down and our supplier passing independent International Down and Feather Laboratory (IDFL) audits relating to ethical traceability. This means that the white down and feathers we purchase are from animals that haven’t been live plucked or force-fed at any point during the supply chain.

Turned a rubbish night into a good night

Fly camping for the night with my indicating dog in the scrub on the top of the range, was supposed to get 1mm rain but ended up with 5mm. The wind picked up and was blowing the rain under my fly. Camp mat decided to have a hole in it and went flat 3 times during the night. Only time i woke up was to the mat being flat. Had a puddle of water in the foot box of this bag in the morning, mat was soaked and flat. Was still nice and warm and had a pretty good sleep, definitely recommend this bag especially considering the weight and packability.

    Sleeping bag

I haven't used it yet but it arrived promptly and is definately small and light. Feels fluffy with feathers as though it will be warm too. Planning on using it in March on the Heaphy so nights will be chilly

Very pleased with my One Planet Nitrous-3

Only used my One Planet Nitrous for two nights up in the Ruahines but very pleased, it packs down very small compared to my other bag and even on a cool night under a fly with Temps of single digits I was warm as toast!! . I might have fitted a small size but got a regular and plenty of room for me at 172cm.

    Great sleeping bag

Love these sleeping bags, got one for each of the kids... I got the small which doesn't so you don't get to choose which side the zip is on but you do with the regular which is great as I purchased it for a left hander.

The hood cord would be better on the outside and could be nice to have a cover for the internal zip but very minor - great bag and super light and small!

One planet Nitrous sleeping bag -3

for a sleeping bag that is very light and compact, it is a great size for me who is tall and quite wide across shoulders. it is warm enough and look forward to using it a lot
