MSR Universal Footprint — 1 Person Regular. A compact protective groundsheet for the MSR solo tents listed below. Place it beneath your tent to help keep the sewn-in floor cleaner and protect it from damp ground, grit and abrasion.

Choose the right footprint
Current FreeLite 1, Elixir 1 and Access 1 tents use the 1 Person Large footprint. The two-person Hubba Hubba LT 2 and HD 2 use the 2 Person Large footprint. For a pre-2022 FreeLite 1, check the model year with us before ordering.
“Universal” refers to the range of available sizes, rather than one size fitting every MSR tent. If your model is not listed or you are unsure of its generation, contact us before ordering.
Why use a footprint?
- Helps reduce wear on the tent floor from grit and abrasive campsite surfaces.
- Adds a barrier against dirt and damp ground, keeping the underside of your tent cleaner.
- A separate groundsheet is easier to clean and dry after a trip.
Designed for the solo tent floor, with less bulk than carrying an oversized groundsheet.

Setup and care
Clear sharp stones and debris from your pitch, lay out the footprint and centre your tent over it. Secure the corner loops and keep the footprint edges beneath the tent floor so rain cannot collect on exposed edges and run between the layers. The footprint is intentionally smaller than the tent floor.
Use this footprint for ground protection. Check your tent's instructions before attempting a fly-only pitch. Shake off dirt after use, clean gently when needed and allow the footprint to dry completely before storing.
