Leatherman Warranty NZ — How It Works | Dwights
Leatherman's 25-Year Warranty — What You Need to Know
Leatherman backs every tool they make with a 25-year warranty — one of the strongest guarantees in the outdoor industry, and one of the main reasons NZ buyers choose Leatherman over cheaper alternatives.
What the warranty covers
The 25-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. If a component fails under normal use due to a manufacturing fault, Leatherman will repair or replace the tool. The warranty covers the pliers, blades, screwdrivers, and all functional components of the multi-tool.
What the warranty doesn't cover
The warranty doesn't cover damage caused by misuse, abuse, or neglect — using a blade as a pry bar, failing to maintain the tool, or damage from use beyond the tool's intended purpose. Normal wear (blade dulling, surface scratches) is also not covered.
How to make a warranty claim in NZ
Leatherman warranty claims can be made directly at leatherman.co.nz/pages/warranty or by contacting Dwights for assistance. You'll need proof of purchase and a description of the defect. Leatherman's reputation for honouring claims is strong — most legitimate defect claims are processed without significant friction.
Why buy from an authorised dealer
Purchasing from an authorised Leatherman dealer like Dwights ensures your warranty is valid and traceable. Grey-market or unauthorised imports may not be covered under the manufacturer warranty.
Keeping your Leatherman performing
A well-maintained Leatherman lasts decades. Keep it clean and dry, apply a light oil to pivot points periodically, and sharpen blades with a proper sharpening tool. Store in the included sheath to protect the blades between uses.
