Sunday Afternoons Ultra-Adventure Hat

I first purchased this hat after reading a review in the New York Times. I have used it for hiking and outdoor walking ever since. I have reordered a replacement just in case as it is hard to find a place to purchase it in Australia.

It folds flat and can be packed without bending the brim or taking up a lot of room. The brim is wide and provides excellent protection from sun and rain. In wind, the chin strap and adjustment mechanism at the back keep it from blowing off. The flap at the back protects the neck. It does, however, flap loudly and annoyingly when it is windy, but it is easy to tuck the flap underneath the hat which solves the problem.

The only problem is that the hat is not very stylish and looks a bit silly. I call it my “dork hat”. For me, its practicality outweighs any concerns about stylishness.

It’s perfect for me. I power walk every day and in the summer I need protection from the sun for extended periods. Feeling so much safer now.

Bought these hats for a trip to Vietnam. They will give excellent coverage in the heat.
