Our classic lightweight down jacket has been updated. With a fresh design aesthetic and recycled construction, the highly packable Microlight Alpine Jacket is the go-to system for rapid warmth when the temperature drops.

The redesigned Microlight Alpine Jacket takes the versatile, easy-pack insulation of the established classic and dials in some intelligent new upgrades. It features a combination of zoned micro and nano baffles to increase core warmth without inflating weight or bulk - and the jacket’s ethical credentials are now equally sound. With 30D Pertex® Quantum ripstop nylon, as well as GRS-certified, 700 fill power P.U.R.E recycled hydrophobic down, the Microlight Alpine Jacket now features fully recycled shell, insulation and lining. Practical and user-friendly, both as an everyday jacket and as a mountain layer, additional features include three harness-compatible pockets, and a down-filled hood with stiffened peak.

Excellent warm jacket

I'm very impressed by the RAB Microlight Alpine jacket.

I looked at many lightweight down jackets from other (more expensive) outdoor brands, but living in a wetter/windier area of Australia, I opted for RAB's offering which has a heavier face fabric and Nikwax-treated down, which the other jackets did not have. This means the RAB jacket is slightly heavier than others, but offers much better weather resistance, which was more important for me.

Its warmth-to-weight ratio is excellent and the fit is great, I'm a medium and can comfortably layer under for extra warmth or fit a shell/rain jacket over as required.

Delivery and service from Dwights Outdoors was excellent and I would not hesitate to purchase from them again.

Great jacket

Very warm and light. Good fit for a broad shouldered bloke and can still fit layers underneath or a rain shell on top.

A feat of modern clothing engineering

I've had this jacket for a few weeks and absolutely love it. It is remarkably lightweight yet still very warm. It is also well fitted, low profile and stylish. I wear it when cycling to and from work each day and it is very breathable and windproof. Have yet to wear it in any significant rainfall but it handles light drizzle without any issue whatsoever. A significant upgrade from my cheap old puffer bought a few years back!
