Rab Valiance Waterproof down jacket
Everything l needed for tramping in winter in southern Aotearoa. Compacts well with excellent deep pockets to keep the hands warm camping or in huts.
However wild the weather gets the Valiance Jacket will keep you warm and dry. Updated with 100% recycled down, it’s engineered for everyday use throughout the coldest months.
Waterproof | Warm | Recycled Down | Winter Use
A welcome sanctuary from lashing rain or a flurry of snow, the Valiance Jacket is warm and waterproof, designed for everyday use and wild winter walking days.
Built with durable, waterproof Pertex® Shield outer and taped seams, the Valiance offers reliable protection beneath the darkest skies. The narrow bonded boxwall construction stabilises the down and allows it to fully loft, trapping the maximum amount of air for warmth. For added durability, lower bulk, and better moisture management, the cuffs and hood are insulated with fast drying, synthetic Stratus™ insulation. When the cuffs are cinched in with the hook and loop tabs, the synthetic insulation keeps performing. With a longer length at the back and regular fit for throwing on over other layers, the Valiance gives a reassuring, protective feel for striding out on wild winter days.
Pertex® Shield
A waterproof and windproof fabric that’s breathable, lightweight and packable. Available in a 2, 2.5 and 3-layer construction, depending on the intensity of the pursuit and the ruggedness required.
Recycled Down
Using 100% recycled, high quality down, gives a second chance to down that might otherwise have ended up in landfill. Reducing waste and making the most of this valuable insulation.
Fluorocarbon-Free Down
For better performance in damp conditions, this down has a durable water repellent coating, free from fluorocarbons. This hydrophobic finish enables the down to dry quickly and resist moisture for longer. Find out more about fluorocarbons.

S o far all looks good. The jacket is comfortable and apparently waterproof - Ive yet to take it south and try it out but in talking to friends who have this jacket, they swear by it so time will tell. Im south in early October.
Expected RAB quality and fit. Looking forward to putting it to the test in the Arctic later this yer
Excellent jacket, extremely well made, very warm, well worth the investment. I spent a long time looking for a good padded jacket like this, visited all the shops and tried on all the alternatives and none came close to the quality of the Rab. The design is well thought out, much more so than competitor's jackets, and it's really well constructed and it's surprising how warm it is and well it stands up to the cold and wind. They may be a little more expensive but well worth paying the extra, highly recommend!
Such a perfect jacket for my needs. Packs down to a decently small size, super waterproof and crazy warm! Worth ever cent
