Specifications

Made for New Zealand's weather conditions
The materials we use in the dome tents are certainly waterproof enough, they breathe well, and the tent materials are strong enough. However the problem of poles breaking in windy conditions was the one issue that remained. We needed to find a way to overcome this without making the tent too heavy or difficult to set up, not too bulky, and most importantly, not too expensive. This tent offers the solution - the new Category 5 Certified Frame System.

Escape Duo 2006 - 2020 (long lasting tent)

We purchased the Escape Duo 2006 and had many camping holidays with it till 2020. We always had a tarp under tent and placed a tarp over the top using poles. It also allowed us to have a dry area to step out under while away. Unfortunately our last year of using the tent went through some horrific weather. It was not till we got home we discovered that the hail had penetrated onto fly and made hairline marks in fabric that it just ripped. Would recommend and buy another one day.

Double Poles worth it!

We purchased this tent in Dec 2018 and have used 4 or 5 times since in various weather conditions. Just returned from an 8 day DoC camp - including a 48 hour period of very strong, continuous wind gusts of 60 - 70km. We also had the Dwights Escape Shade gazebo up and I was a bit nervous we'd wake to a ripped tent and the gazebo blown down the beach, but as it was, everything stood up to whatever nature threw at us that week.

We purchased this tent because of the double poles and they certainly proved their worth. It was also really good to be able to have the option of opening either of the side doors depending on wind direction.

We are now buying the kids new Dwight dome tents as their cheaper brand tents didn't hold up in the wind!

Dwight's build quality

The first tent we purchased was the Escape Duo 240. We found this tent very easy to put up and it has stood up to a week of bad weather the very first time we used it. Heavy wind and rain seemed no problem for the tent with no water getting in through the raised lip of the doors and no damage by the wind. 2 years later we decided we needed a bigger tent and we were extremely happy with the Dwight's build quality, it was an easy choice in purchasing the Seabreeze tent from them. The Seabreeze has held up against a couple of intense storms with no trouble. Dwight's staff are always helpful and knowledgeable and we highly recommend Dwight's tents.

Dwights make tents for NZers and NZ conditions

We purchased an Escape Duo 240 from very friendly and helpful staff at Dwights Auckland. We choose this tent due to the size mainly. With two rooms it is plenty big enough for a longer holiday - especially staying at DOC camp grounds where you need to take everything. But it is also easy enough to transport (not too bulky) and quick to erect which makes it perfect for just overnight. We choose this also as we were impressed by the double frame. We were very excited and looking forward to our first weekend away. We were never expecting gale force winds which is exactly what we got - and to top it off heavy rain. After getting the tent up in the wind we got straight inside. We noticed other people leaving but Alan had faith his Dwights could withstand anything. I lay awake half the night expecting the tent to be ripped in half at any moment or to wake up in a pool of water. Talk about a baptism by fire! We woke the next morning to find the tent perfectly positioned - amazing! Tents around us had torn in the night and several people left the camp for this reason. Several people came to view our tent and say how sturdy it was. Everyone came to the consensus that Dwights make tents for NZers and NZ conditions. I have no hesitation recommending this tent. It withheld what will probably be our worst night camping as far as weather conditions. I also like that both ends open up (unusual for this size tent). There are plenty of options for entry etc. It is great and we are sure we…

Great knowledge and service

Great quality products that will last. We have purchased 6 tents plus lanterns and tables and the staff made it such a hassle free and easy purchase. They have lasted 2 years and we have come back for more. We would highly recommend to anyone looking for good quality products and great helpful staff. We have used the tents in all weather conditions and no one has gotten wet, no poles have broken and we have yet to replace any parts. They have stood up well to many teenagers putting these up and down who are not always most careful with things. The lanterns are really bright and we have just purchased more for the districtas they are safer and produce more light than the old gas lanterns.
